Last week, a tiny two engined plane on a grey windy day lifted off in to the clouds with six MDM students. Our MDM project team was on its way to Bella Bella. The place has been the focus of our work this semester.  It was a short flight from YVR to Port Hardy, on the Northern most tip of Vancouver Island, then a 30 minute hop further north to Bella Bella.

Play is a big part of learning, especially new technologies. "Let me play with it for a bit," is the most common retort of the digital native when handed a new gadget. Last year, I started playing with a programming language called Processing. As a non-programmer I was just playing.

"So what is digital media exactly?" I get this question a lot.  I usually say, "everything."  In my moments of retrospection about this program and my classmates and my aspirations the notion of collage  continues to resonate. Digital media is a collage of ideas and tools and people and expression.
