Vision of GNWC

To develop GNWC into a vibrant, livable and sustainable community that attracts innovative businesses and academic programs and encourages collaboration between industry and the four partner institutions.

In 2002, Finning International Inc. donated 7.5 hectares (20 acres) – the equivalent of six city blocks – to four academic institutions: the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, Emily Carr University of Art + Design and the British Columbia Institute of Technology. The presidents of each institution, along with municipal and regional government officials, as well as representatives of private industry, decided to develop the industrial area into a collaborative, mixed-use campus and commercial environment.
