Jean Hébert teaches new media and communications studies at SFU, Douglas College and the Centre for Digital Media. His writing has appeared in scholarly journals such as First Monday and the Canadian Journal of Communication. Building upon his program management experience (2007-2011) at Mobile MUSE, Jean's PhD research investigates the sociocultural dimensions of mobile phones, ubiquitous computing and the postindustrial city.
Jean's research and teaching interests are in critical theories of media, social and ubiquitous computing, popular music and technology, and sustainable cities. He is also a researcher with the Greenest City Conversations Project, an initiative at UBC's Centre for Sustainability.
Jean holds a BA (Honours) in Anthropology (UBC), and an MA in Communication (SFU). He blogs (now infrequently) at http://clicknoise.net and tweets (much more frequently) as @jeanh.
