In addition to networking and collaborating with colleagues through this program, Faculty Affiliates teach courses in the MDM program, mentor students, and support MDM student projects.

She is an Associate Professor at Emily Carr University, Vancouver and co-curator of Interactive Futures Conference, Victoria, Canada.

Harold Chaput is a Technical Director at Electronic Arts where, most recently, he led the engineering team for the FIFA common gameplay engine in the acclaimed FIFA 08 and FIFA 09. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in 2004 for his research in robotics and infant cognition. He also founded the Austin Museum of Digital Art, the world's first museum of digital art, in 1997. Dr. Chaput has been a research consultant in educational virtual worlds for Northwestern University and North Dakota State University, user interface for Compaq Western Research Labs, and machine learning for Motorola Advanced Research Labs.

Megan comes from a background in web design, social web marketing and broadcasting. She has had the fortune to live and work across Canada, with a wide range of clients, from grass-roots to corporations. She has been a speaker and has attended international technology conferences and events. While her clients are coast to coast, Megan happily makes the thriving hub of creativity and technology that is Vancouver her home.

Actor with Derek Walcott's Trinidad Theatre Workshop; soloist with the José Limón Dance Company of New York; dancer, choreographer, theatre and performance lecturer in Germany and the UK; Artistic Director of Full Performing Bodies, Henry Daniel is an Associate Professor of Dance and Performance Studies in the School for the Contemporary Arts at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada. He attended the Boston Conservatory of Music and the Juilliard School in New York City as a dancer. Henry has an MA in Dance Studies from City University (The Laban Centre, London) and a Ph.D in Dance and Performance Studies from the University of Bristol.

Dill also served on the US National Visual Analytics Center's National Research Agenda Panel and was recently appointed as the first NVAC Scholar.

His work was exhibited in the prestigious Prague Quadrennial Scenographic Exposition in 1995, and he has been a Canadian representative to the International Theatre Design Organization (OISTAT).

Composer/performer/programmer, Martin Gotfrit's work includes electroacoustic and acoustic scores for feature and documentary film, video, theatre, dance and the concert stage. As a sound designer he has worked as a practitioner, consultant and teacher. Actively engaged in computational art for many years, Gotfrit was one of the founders of the federally funded Centre for Image and Sound Research (1988 - 1992) and the facilitator of the "Computed Art" Summer Intensives at SFU in the 1990s. He has been on faculty at the School for the Contemporary Arts, Simon Fraser University since 1981 where he currently holds the position of Director.

From 1993-2002, he taught at The Ohio State University and held an associate faculty appointment with the Advance Computing Center for Art and Design and the Center. He has been conducting research on digital media, the arts, cognition and learning since the early 1990s and has given keynotes at international congress' on these topics in Austraia, Brazil, China, Taiwan, New Zealand, and the United States.  Dr. Krug's work has been supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, Inukshuk Wireless Inc., the Getty Foundation, the Annenberg Foundation, and Arts21 and PBS (the Public Broadcasting Service) through a partnership with Davis Publications.

Jeffrey Ventrella is a developer of virtual worlds and artificial life, with a Masters degree from the MIT Media Lab. A gifted artist at a young age, Jeffrey discovered programming at 26, and has since applied visual language to many areas of software engineering, including scientific data visualization at Syracuse University. He has taught at Syracuse University, Tufts, and the University of California in San Diego, and has published chapters and presented his artificial life work internationally. In 2008, Jeffrey taught the Building Virtual Worlds course at the Centre for Digital Media.

In '97 Jeffrey became co-founder and Principle Inventor of the virtual world, There.com, where he was the lead designer for avatar-centric communication. Later he served as Senior Developer at Linden Lab, makers of Second Life, where he invented Flexies, FollowCam, and avatar-related technologies. Jeffrey has worked at Adobe Systems on Acrobat 3D, and developed the home page for NASAImages.org while working at the Internet Archive. His interactive gems can be found at www.Ventrella.com

Rita Wong is an Assistant Professor in Critical and Cultural Studies at the Emily Carr University of Art + Design. Her work investigates the relationships between decolonization, social justice, ecology, and contemporary poetics. A recipient of the Asian Canadian Writers' Workshop Emerging Writer Award, she is the author of two books of poetry: monkeypuzzle and forage (shortlisted for the Dorothy Livesay Poetry Prize in 2008). Wong’s poems have appeared in anthologies such as Ribsauce: a CD/Anthology of Words by Women, The Common Sky: Canadian Writers Against the War, Shift and Switch: New Canadian Poetry, Making a Difference: Canadian Multicultural Literatures in English, Swallowing Clouds: An Anthology of Chinese-Canadian Poetry, as well as publications like Woo, West Coast Line, CV2, XCP (Cross Cultural Poetics), Open Letter, Parser, Ms, and more.
