Visual Story explores the complete engagement that both Film and Interactive Media (especially Video Games) can create with their audiences/participants. The methods used to create this immersion are very different however. Visual Story looks at these differences and explores the possibilities of integrating the two approaches. This will be done largely by studying the techniques of storytelling that Film has developed over the last hundred years. Narrative development through use of plot, intent, themes and, most especially, character will be focused on. The course will question how the techniques studied might be incorporated into the world of Video Games. Collectively, we will try to imagine a complete blending of these different systems of creating the immersive experience.
